Authorities in Hudson County announced that the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a crash that critically injured a pedestrian on Sunday, December 14.
Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello stated that at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Mallory Avenue and Communipaw Avenue.
Responding officers located a victim, later identified as a 61-year-old male from Jersey City, with life-threatening injuries, HCPO officials say. 
He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition, Hudson County officials said.
According to Hudson County officials, the striking vehicle remained at the scene.
This matter remains under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
