Irvington Township proudly recognized one of its own this week, as The Honorable Mayor Tony Vauss—through Superintendent Dr. April Vauss—presented a proclamation honoring Adon Shuler, a standout graduate of Irvington High School and current defensive back at the University of Notre Dame.

The honor celebrated Shuler’s commitment to his community through the Adon Shuler Summer Football Camp and his foundation’s recent Book Bag Giveaway on August 28, which provided hundreds of Irvington children with free school supplies.

Held at the Ralph C. Steele Sports Complex, the late June football camp brought nearly 100 young athletes together for a day of skill-building, mentorship, and inspiration.

Shuler, once a Blue Knights star himself, led the drills alongside local coaches while reminding young players of the importance of discipline, teamwork, and giving back.

“This is my home,” Shuler said, reflecting on why he continues to return. “I want these kids to know that I’m not far away—that they can reach out and see what’s possible.” -Don Shuler

Superintendent Vauss praised the young leader as she presented the Mayor’s proclamation, noting how his journey from Irvington High School to Notre Dame stands as an example for today’s student-athletes.

“Adon shows our students what it means to excel and then return to lift others up,” she said.

The Honorable Mayor Tony Vauss, Dr. April Vauss, and the entire Irvington Township community proudly wish Adon Shuler success tomorrow night as the Fighting Irish take on the University of Miami in their season opener.

With continued community support, including a $10,000 donation from Dick’s Sporting Goods to strengthen local athletic programs, Shuler’s efforts highlight the pride and promise of Irvington’s next generation.
