Irvington Township Man Sprints Out of Court Room in Union County

According to a statement released by Roselle Park Police, on Thursday, at around 1:10pm Mr. Javens Ogaus 25, of Irvington, was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.

Police say he was scheduled to have a court proceeding in Roselle Park Court, in which he fled while the judge was addressing him.

Ogaus fled from the Municipal court on E. Westfield Ave. and ran towards Walnut St. into the rear yards of several residences while officers pursued him on foot.

Officials say Roselle Park.Police officers set up a perimeter and notified Union County Sheriff's Office K-9 Search & Rescue Unit.

As the K-9 unit arrived and its presence was announced Ogaus attempted to exit one of the yards and was apprehended on the 10 Block of Charles Street.

Police charged Oguas with contempt of court and 4th Degree resisting arrest.

He was sent to the Union County Jail pending a future Union County Superior Court bail hearing.
