Irvington Township House Fire Injures Firefighter

A Sunday afternoon fire that broke out inside a house in Irvington Township sent a firefighter to the hospital suffering injuries.

According to preliminary reports, firefighters were called to the 40's block of Philip Place after they received reports of a house fire just before 5:30 p.m.

Upon arrival to the scene, crews observed thick smoke coming from a single family wood framed two-story house at that location.

Crews began to extinguish flames coming from the second floor of the structure when a firefighter suffered a non-life threatening hand injury according to officials.

EMS transported the firefighter to the hospital where he received treatment for the injury.

Crews were able to bring the blaze under control in under an hour with no other serious injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Irvington Township fire official.
