Raheem Morris, the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons and proud Irvington native, has been presented with several prestigious honors, including the Essex County Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership Award.AfThis recognition, coupled with the keys to both Essex County and the cities of Newark and Irvington, celebrates Morris's remarkable achievements and serves as an inspiration for future generations in his hometown on Thursday, February 22nd.

In a heartwarming ceremony attended by dozens of Essex County officials, Morris's legacy was further immortalized by The Honorable Mayor Tony Vauss and Dr. April Vauss, Superintendent of Irvington Public Schools, who announced the retirement of his Irvington Blue Knights No. 14 jersey.

This gesture underscores the impact Morris has had on his community and the high regard in which he is held.

Morris Essex County Executive DiVincenzo, in presenting the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership Award, lauded Morris's exceptional career and leadership qualities.

Morris's journey in the NFL is marked by remarkable achievements, including appearing in three Super Bowls and clinching two championships.

Notably, he became one of the youngest head coaches in NFL history with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the first African American Head Coach for the Atlanta Falcons.AdMorris's coaching philosophy extends beyond the tactical aspects of football.
