An armed robbery of a liquor store in Irvington has police searching for suspects.
Officers responded to the **Roseway Liquor Store and Del**i located in the 700 block of Lyons Avenue shortly before 1:30 p.m. after receiving reports of an armed robbery in progress.
Units arriving at the scene were told that two black male suspects entered the establishment armed with a gun and committed the robbery.
According to reports, one of the suspects was wearing a gray shirt and a black hoodie when the pair ran from the scene.
The store was the site of the deadly February 15, 2015, shooting of 28-year-old store clerk Amit Patel who was gunned down by an armed manned who entered the establishment while Patel manned the cashier desk alone.
Since 2014, the immediate area has been a hotbed for violence that includes armed robberies, shootings, and open air drug trafficking.
According to a statement given to The India West online news publication, owner of the liquor store, Patel said "Irvington is a dangerous area. After dark on Lyons Avenue, it's too risky; anything is possible" Patel said.
In October 2014, two employees at **Irvington’s Kings Farm Food Store** were shot in the abdomen during an armed robbery.

EMS rushed the clerks to University Hospital with one of the victims listed in critical condition.
In 2015, a store owner at the Money Gram Store located in the 1200 block of Springfield Avenue was shot by an unknown assailant who entered the establishment armed with a gun and announced a holdup.

On May 20, 2017, EMS rushed a male victim to University Hospital after gunfire rang out near Marlo's night club. His injuries were non-life threatening.

Today's armed robbery is under investigation.
Irvington Police has not responded to requests for public information.
