Investigators Ask for Assistance in Identifying Deceased Woman

A woman’s body was found in Elizabeth earlier this week, and investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in determining her identity and the circumstances behind her death, Union County officials announced on June 20.

According to police, the deceased is a possibly black or Hispanic woman in her late 20s to early 30s, about 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-6, weighing approximately 110 pounds, with no distinguishing marks or tattoos on her body.

She was found the afternoon of June 11 along railroad tracks off of the 300 block of Port Avenue in Elizabeth.

According to police, the scene was secured and processed by members of the Union County Homicide Task Force, assisted by members of the New Jersey State Police Crime Scene Unit, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Elizabeth Police Department.

The investigation is still active and ongoing.
