Newark Police officials in newark are investigating an incident that had a crowd of people rush out of a movie theater in the city on Saturday night.
According to police, units responded to the Cityplex Theater located at 360-394 Springfield Avenue after multiple reports were received by headquarters reporting a fight in progress at that location.
First arriving officer arrived at the scene and requested additional units after they observed a large crowd rushing out of the building with dozens fleeing from the Littleton Avenue rear exits according to reports.
Police immediately gained control of the situation as they search for evidence of a person who they believed was armed with a weapon.
Officials did not immediately report any arrests, weapons found or injuries.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
