The Attorney General's Office is currently investigating a tragic motor vehicle incident that took place on August 16 in Secaucus.

Attorney General Platkin said the incident occurred when a motorcyclist, suspected of fleeing an attempted police traffic stop, was involved in a collision after leaving the scene.

According to a statement released by Attorney General Platkin, the preliminary findings revealed that a Hudson County Sheriff's officer, driving a marked police vehicle, made an effort to halt the motorcyclist's progress on County Avenue.

Reportedly, the motorcyclist evaded the situation and proceeded northbound on County Avenue.

Unfortunatley, the motorcyclist collided with an unrelated civilian SUV at the juncture of County Avenue and Charles Street around 12:22 p.m.

The collision resulted in the motorcyclist being thrown from his bike and sustaining severe injuries.

Emergency services swiftly transported the injured motorcyclist to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was regrettably pronounced deceased at approximately 1:13 p.m. Meanwhile, the occupants of the SUV emerged from the incident unharmed.

The investigation remains ongoing, and as of now, no additional details are available for release.

The identity of the deceased individual is being withheld at this time as well.
