Investigation Underway After Body Discovered Near Plainfield Station Tracks

New Jersey Transit Police are investigating after a body was discovered near the train tracks west of the Plainfield Station late Wednesday evening.

Authorities said that at approximately 9:16 p.m. on March 4, officers were dispatched to the area near the New Street Bridge following reports of a body located along the tracks on the Raritan Valley Line.

 

According to officials, the individual was found on the railroad right-of-way near the tracks. 

As a result of the discovery, train traffic on the Raritan Valley Line was temporarily suspended while investigators examined the scene.

 

Service has since resumed following the initial investigation.

 

Officials said detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether the individual may have been struck by a train.
