Police in Newark are continuing to investigate a reported armed carjacking of a taxi cab that occurred in the city's North Ward on Thursday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of 198 Riverside Court for a call of an armed carjacking at around 12:50 a.m.
Officers arrived at the scene and were informed that a hispanic male took Classic Cab #153 at gunpoint near Grafton Avenue then sped away from the scene according to reports. Police canvassed the area and reportedly found a vehicle that accompanied the suspect during the carjacking then detained one person.
There were no serious injuries reported in the incident.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
