Injuries Reported in Separate Attempted Armed Robberies in Newark

Authorities in Newark are investigating two separate armed robberies that happened in the city overnight that left victims injured. 

Shortly before 9:30 p.m., Essex County Sheriff officers patrolling Branch Brook  Park responded to a reported armed robbery that occurred near the skating rink where they arrived to find an injured male victim. The man told police that several men approached and demanded personal possessions. The suspects then began to physically attack the victim causing minor injuries.

EMS treated the victim at the scene. 

A reported attempted carjacking that happened in the city's West Ward had one person injured late last night.

Police responded to the the area of South Orange Ave. near Oakland Terrace where they located a victim who reported being attacked by as many as four suspects who attempted to take a vehicle at that location. 

The suspect began to (jump), physically assault the victim before fleeing the scene. The suspects were unsuccessful in taking the vehicle.

EMS were called for non-life threatening injuries.
