Police in Newark detained a suspect who they believe stabbed a person during an early morning altercation that occurred in the city's North Ward.
It happened just before 1:45 a.m. in the 300 block of Bloomfield Avenue where police were called to the scene to investigate an injured person.
Units arriving at the scene found the victim suffering a non-life threatening slash wound to the face according to reports.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where doctors treated the injury.
The motive for the stabbing remains under investigation.
