Hudson Prosecutor Investigates Death of Missing NJ Woman Found Near Busy Roadway on Jersey City-Bayonne Border

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating the death of a Lindenwold woman who was found deceased in Bayonne.

According to Prosecutor Suarez, on Sunday, May 14,  the Jersey City Police Department received a missing person report for a 32-year-old Lindenwold woman who was last seen in Jersey City on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

During the course of the investigation, prosecutor Suarez said the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit – with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department, Bayonne Police Department, and New Jersey State Police – located the lifeless body of a female off of Route 440 near the Jersey City border on Wednesday, May 17.  

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Prosecutor Suarez, the woman as Ms. Norelis Mendoza, 32, of Lindenwold.

The death is considered suspicious at this time, and the Cause and Manner of Death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case.
