Hudson Prosecutor to Investigate Body Found in Jersey City

Authorities from the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office will handle the investigation into a body being recovered at a location in Jersey City early Tuesday morning.

Jersey City Police officials referred all questions to the prosecutor after officers were called to the vicinity of Vine and Chestnut Street when they received reports of a badly injured, unconscious and unresponsive person at that location just before 8:15 a.m.

Units arrived at the scene immediately set up a crime scene after finding the body wedged between a fence and structure at that location.

Authorities have not released what officially caused the person's death but they would only say that the investigation is in its early stages and being looked into as a possible homicide.
