Hudson Jury Convicts Man for Explicit Contact with Boy at Union City Public Pool

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said on Thursday, April 14, Mr. Angel Rosario-Sanchez, 22, of Union City, was convicted of explicit contact with an 8-year-old boy at a public pool in 2019.

A jury found Rosario-Sanchez guilty of Sexual Assault by Contact and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor.

After a five-day trial, the verdict was delivered before the Honorable Nesle A. Rodriguez, J.S.C.

An investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Union City Police Department determined Rosario-Sanchez committed an explicit contact crime on an 8-year-old boy. 

Rosario-Sanchez did not know the boy when the incident happened at the Firefighters’ Memorial Pool on Ninth Street in Union City on July 30, 2019.

The jury found Rosario-Sanchez not guilty of similar charges involving a 12-year-old boy on the same day.

Rosario-Sanchez is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, July 15, 2022.

The Sexual Assault by Contact charge carries a sentence of 5 to 10 years in State Prison and the Endangering the Welfare of a Child charge carries a sentence of 3 to 5 years in State Prison.

His sentence is also subject to Megan’s Law and Parole Supervision for Life.   Anyone who believes they are victims of a sex crime should call the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) at 201-915-1234.
