A scratch-off lottery ticket worth more than $1.7 million was sold in Hudson County on New Year’s Day, New Jersey Lottery officials announced.

The winning “Win For Life!” ticket was purchased at 502 Grocery & Deli on Ocean Avenue in Jersey City.
The $5 ticket pays the winner $120,000 per year ($10,000 per month) for the rest of their life, with the option to instead receive a lump-sum payment of $1,769,800.
Lottery officials said this is the first of three top-prize tickets for the game to be claimed.
The New Jersey Lottery printed 12,977,400 tickets for the game, which launched on November 26.

More information about prize claims and game rules is available through the New Jersey Lottery.
