Hudson County Investigating Multi-Car Collision in Kearny

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced that on November 1, shortly before 10:00 p.m., members of the Kearny Police Department responded to the area of 969 Newark-Jersey City Turnpike in Kearny on a report of a motor vehicle collision. 

According to Prosecutor Suarez, upon arrival, responding officers found that multiple vehicles were involved in the collision, with one driver having serious injuries.

During the preliminary investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Kearny Police Department, it was discovered that the vehicles involved in the incident were as follows: a 2010 Acura, a 2016 BMW 435i, a 2009 Honda CRV, a 2014 Audi A4 and a 2020 Chevrolet Suburban. 

According to the investigation, there were nine individuals with various injuries who were involved in the collision. 

All of the individuals were treated at the scene, and several were transported by Emergency Medical Services to multiple area hospitals where they were treated for their injuries. 

According to Prosecutor Suarez, the 21-year-old male driver of the BMW suffered serious head trauma and was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he is currently in stable condition.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Kearny Police Department are actively investigating the collision. 

No arrests have been made at this time.
