Hudson County Corrections Officer Charged for Possessing Explicit Images of Minors

According to a statement released by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, on Thursday, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Mr. Samuel Moreno, 53, of Jersey City, following an investigation into allegations of possessing Explicit Images of Minors.

Officials say, the investigation included a search warrant which led to suspected Explicit Images of Minors being discovered on a computer located in his residence.

According to officials, Moreno is currently a corrections officer at the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny where he was arrested without incident.

Officials charged Moreno with Endangering the Welfare of a Child by Possessing Suspected Explicit Images of Minors.

Officials say Moreno was processed and released and is scheduled to make his first appearance on this charge in Central Judicial Processing Court in the Hudson County Administration Building at 10:00 a.m. on May 30, 2019.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest as well as the Hudson County Department of Corrections Internal Affairs Unit with assisting in the investigation.

Hudson County Department of Corrections Director Ronald Edwards said, “We will proactively investigate and prosecute any violation of the law to maintain the integrity of this facility and to maintain the highest level of professional and ethical standards for law enforcement.” He also thanked the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor for its professional cooperation in investigating this case.
