Hudson County Cardiologist Named Medical Director at Jersey City Medical Center

 Jersey City Medical Center announced the appointment of Raashan Williams, M.D., to the position of Medical Director of the Catheterization Laboratory.

“Without question, I am proud to welcome Dr. Williams into this role as he has been a strong presence and leader in Hudson County and has shepherded the care of thousands of patients in need of advanced cardiac care,” said Michael Prilutsky, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jersey City Medical Center.

According to officials, as Medical Director, Dr. Williams will set the direction of the Catheterization Laboratory in partnership with the hospital’s clinical and administrative leadership.

He will also focus on collaborating with internal and external providers to identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and change and improving clinical technology and programs to continue the excellence in patient safety and outcomes. 

Dr. Williams, who has been a member of the Medical Staff at the Medical Center since 2007, has been a consistent presence in Hudson County and has led an extensive cardiology practice in the region for more than 15 years. 

He earned a degree in medicine from Temple University School of Medicine.

He completed an internship and residency at New York Presbyterian (NYP) Hospital Cornell Medical Center and a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Temple University Hospital, where he served as Chief Cardiology fellow.

He also completed an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at NYP Hospital Cornell Medical Center.

Dr. Williams is a specialist performing high-risk coronary interventions, including advanced coronary imaging and complex peripheral vascular interventions.

As an experienced interventional cardiologist, Dr. Williams has previously served as a hospital leader in various roles. He is known for his aptitude to integrate teams and incorporate innovation and growth within a clinical environment.
