Hudson County Administers 75% of Supplied COVID-19 Vaccines, Anticipates Additional Shipments in Coming Days

Hudson County

The Hudson County Vaccine Task Force, overseen by County Executive Tom DeGise and the Hudson Regional Health Commission, has now administered 75% of the COVID-19 vaccines supplied late last month.

The Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center anticipates receiving two additional shipments of the Moderna vaccine in the coming days to continue its robust efforts in vaccinating all residents and essential workers.

“As we enter into a new phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, now more than ever it’s important for us to invest all of our resources into an efficient and robust vaccination program,” County Executive Tom DeGise said. “We will continue to keep Hudson County residents safe, healthy and informed through the remainder of the pandemic and ensure that everyone receives a vaccine in line with the state’s vaccination schedule.”

Additionally, Hudson County has launched a comprehensive website to provide the most up to date information about vaccination and testing opportunities available to residents.

COVID.HCNJ.US directs individuals to where they can make vaccination appointments, lists information about testing opportunities at the County Testing Site at Hudson Regional Hospital and shares relevant local COVID-19 data.

Hudson County was the first in New Jersey to open a county-run public vaccination center and began vaccinating individuals within hours of receiving its first shipment.

The Vaccine Distribution Center is operating through a collaborative effort with the Hudson Regional Health Commission, the Hudson County Improvement Authority, the Hudson County Office of Emergency Management, the County Department of Roads and Public Property, the Hudson County Schools of Technology and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office.

The center is open by appointment only for doctors and nurses within private practices, dentists, hygienists, community and public health workers, funeral directors, paid and unpaid Emergency Medical Technicians, and those working in labs with infectious material.

Testing is still being offered at the County Testing Site in partnership with Hudson Regional Hospital in Secaucus. The USS Juneau Center, Office of Emergency Management is located at 110 Hackensack Avenue in Kearny. For more information, please email HCvax@hudsonregionalhealth.org.
