Police reported property damage in an early morning shots-fired incident in Newark's lower West Ward.

Residents in the 80's block of South 6th Street were awakened to several rounds of gunfire that erupted in the neighborhood shortly after 12:30 a.m.

Newark Police officers arrived at the scene and found multiple shell casings, but no victims were found after they searched the neighborhood.

Bullets struck a house, but no one inside suffered injuries. Authorities say the suspects fled the scene and remained at large.

Officials have not released a motive for the shooting at this time.
