House Struck by Bullets in Early Morning Paterson Shooting

There were no injuries reported in a shots fired incident that had police in a neighborhood in Paterson early Thursday morning.

Residents in the 400 block of Van Houten Street were awakened by the sounds of about a half dozen popping noises then sirens where police closed off the area after they responded to a ShotSpotter activation that detected the shooting.

At least one house suffered damage after bullets struck the residents, but after police search the home, no victims were found.

In a separate incident, gunmen blasted off multiple rounds of bullets in the vicinity of 19th Street and 10th Avenue where the suspects, who were occupying a vehicle, sped through the area and began shooting at drug dealers at that location.

Police say flying bullets struck multiple cars, but there were no injuries reported.

The motive for the shootings remain under investigation.
