Homicide Unit Investigating Death of Elderly Man in Jersey City

Authorities in Hudson County announced that the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating the death of a 91-year-old man in Jersey City.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez stated that on Monday, June 9, the Jersey City Police Department was contacted to conduct a welfare check of an individual at 2554 Kennedy Boulevard.

Responding officers located a male, later identified as An Quan, 91, of Jersey City, in a state of medical distress, HCPO officials say. 

According to Hudson County officials, he was transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment, where he was pronounced dead on Saturday, June 14.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office conducted a post-mortem examination on Monday, June 16, HCPO authorities stated. 

Hudson County officials say they determined the Cause of Death to be Complications Associated with Blunt Force Injuries and the Manner of Death to be Homicide.

The Homicide Unit was notified of the Regional Medical Examiner’s report and assumed control of the investigation, HCPO officials said. 

No arrests have been made at this time.
