The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed a homicide investigation taking place at a housing complex in West Orange.
Offcials would not release many details regarding the incident, but according to residents, at approximately 7:15 p.m., West Orange Police were joined by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office at an apartment at the Eagle Rock Apartment complex located on Susan Court.
Residents said police alerted them to stay in the house but noted that the scene was safe and under control.
Officials from the prosecutor's office would only say during the early part of the investigation, one person was found dead and the incident is being investigated as a homicide.
The nature of the victim's injuries were not released at this time.
