Crews in Hoboken are working to repair two water main breaks that left parts of the city flooded and many residents without water on Tuesday.

The first break, a 12-inch main at Newark Avenue and Garden Street, erupted around 11 a.m., tearing open the roadway and forcing closures on Garden Street from Observer Highway to First Street and Newark Street from Bloomfield Street to Park Avenue.
Hours later, an 8-inch main near Ninth Street also broke, compounding service disruptions.
Residents across the city reported low water pressure or no service. As a precaution, Hoboken officials issued a citywide boil water advisory, warning that water should not be consumed without boiling first.
Emergency distribution sites were set up at the Multi-Service Center, Monroe Gardens, and Fox Hill Gardens to provide bottled water.
Veolia Water NJ and city crews remain on site making repairs.
