U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer said Alexander Heifler is facing a two-count complaint, including one count of unlawful possession of destructive devices and one count of making destructive devices.

According to officials, Heifler is scheduled to make his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Stacey D. Adams in federal court in Newark at 2:00 p.m.

Authorities allege that the Hudson County man was involved in a plot to build and potentially deploy the devices against a targeted residence.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Federal officials emphasized that there is no current threat to the public and credited law enforcement partners for quickly identifying and addressing what they described as a potential danger to New Jersey residents.
