Hit-and-Run Incident Leaves Electric Scooter Rider in Critical Condition in Newark

A man riding an electric scooter in the city’s West Ward was struck and severely injured by a hit-and-run driver in Newark, according to a statement released to RLS Media by Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé.

Nino The collision occurred around 3:11 p.m. in the 600 block of South 20th Street, prompting immediate police response to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim unresponsive, having suffered significant injuries from the impact with a black jeep.

Newark Police officials said the injured man was quickly transported to University Hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Hit and run

The driver of the black jeep responsible for the collision fled the scene before law enforcement could arrive, leaving the victim without immediate aid.

Newark Police are actively investigating the incident, seeking any leads that could help identify and apprehend the driver involved.

As the West Ward community reels from the shock of this hit-and-run, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
