A vehicle that was followed by police from Hillside came to a crashing halt in Newark's South Ward according to authorities.
The chase originated at an unidentified location in Hillside when officers attempted to pull over the vehicle that ignored police and sped off.
The chase ended on Hawthorne Avenue when the suspect's vehicle crashed into a pole on Bergen and Watson Street then crashed into a taxi cab before the suspect bailed from the vehicle.
The suspect was captured a short time later after a brief foot pursuit.
It is not immediately clear what the suspect was being pursued for.
