Hillside

Hillside Mayor Dahlia Vertreese invites the community to participate in the Township’s first Juneteenth Celebration at Central Avenue Park Saturday, June 19, from 1 pm to 7 pm.

“We’re going to recognize this important and historical day by celebration as a community,” Mayor Vertreese said. “The African-American experience in the United States is significant and deserves to be recognized and honored.”

There are several programs scheduled for the day. There will be live music by local DJ Qua and Vendors providing food and entertainment. Guest speakers will include People Organization for Progress Chairman Larry Hamm and noted author Harry Paden.

“This is going to be a family affair, and we will have something for everyone,” Mayor Vertreese said. “This is going to be a day for all of Hillside to come together as one big family.”

The Mayor also announced the Township will be offering on-site COVID vaccinations during the event.

The Township already offers COVID testing three-days-week at the Hillside Community Center at 274 Hillside Ave., every Tuesday and Thursday (9 am to 6 pm) and Saturday (10 am to 2 pm).
