A 67-year-old Hillside man was transported to an area hospital Sunday for an evaluation after attempting to set his home on fire.
According to authorities, at approximately 8:21 p.m., officers responded to 1500 block of Leslie Street for a report of a fire.
Upon arrival, police found that a 67-year-old man had spread oil on the floor and was attempting to light it with an envelope. Police said the man ultimately became combative with officers and medical personnel.
The unidentified resident was transported to Trinitas Hospital for evaluation.
The incident remains under investigation.
