Today two men pleaded not guilty to murder charges in connection to the fatal shooting of John Betances on May 26 in Newark.
Raheem Glaspie, 23, of Irvington, and Shaquan Leaks, 22, of Hillside, were among 48 people charged in the alleged drug ring that was run by members of the 793 Bloods.
After last week’s drug bust announcement, 37 people were taken into custody and 11 remained at large.
Today however, Glaspie and Leaks were arraigned before Superior Court Judge Ronald Wigler in connection with the May 26 shooting that killed 24-year-old John Betances at 786 South 18th Street in Newark.
This matter will be referred to the grand jury. Bail for Glaspie and Leaks at $1 million each.
