Hillside Detective Catch Man Stealing from Liquor Store while Investigating Earlier Theft from Store

Hillside

Police took a man in custody and charged him with theft after a detective caught the man attempting to steal alcohol from the establishment.

The incident happened early this afternoon when a detective was inside the liquor store that's located in the 1300 block of North Broad Street viewing surveillance tape of a theft that occurred inside the store sometime last week.

According to the owner of the establishment, the man reportedly walked into the store and began to act in a suspicious manner when he was asked if he needed assistance with anything.

The man then allegedly hid a $100 dollar of Remy Martin liquor inside his pants according to reports.

While viewing the live action on surveillance, the detective confronted the man and immediately placed him in custody.

It is not clear if the man is responsible for last week's theft that occurred at the store.

**The charges against this defendant are merely accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.**
