An armed carjacking at gunpoint that occurred early Wednesday afternoon in Hillside has police investigating.
According to preliminary reports, armed men pointed guns at the victim on Liberty Avenue near the Union border shortly before 12:30 p.m. and demanded the victim's Volkswagen that had reported NJ license plate numbers "NTH-83R".
The suspects, only identified as two black males, jumped into the vehicle and sped away from the scene immediately after the carjacking reports said.
At around 2:30 p.m., a violent car crash that occurred in the 200 block of Osborne Terrace had Hillside Police in a foot pursuit of a suspect that bailed from the vehicle after being chased into Newark.
There were no immediate reports of injuries, but residents told RLS Metro Breaking News that it did not appear that police had anyone arrested.
An information request to Newark Police had officials forward all questions to Hillside authorities.
