Hillsborough Man Arrested for Possession of Explicit Images of Minors

HILLSBOROUGH, N.J. - Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor, and Hillsborough Township Chief of Police Darren Powell announced the arrest of Mr. Jonathan Martinez, 22 of Gemini Drive in Hillsborough, New Jersey.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that at approximately 2:30 pm on July 15, 2019, detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Unit and the Hillsborough Township Police Department Patrol Division located defendant Martinez in his Gemini Drive home and placed him under arrest for the possession of Explicit Images of Minors.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that the investigation was transferred to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, after they received information that defendant Martinez had purchased Explicit Images of Minors from an individual initially identified during a Hunterdon County investigation.

As a result of a Superior Court-issued search warrant that was executed at defendant Martinez’ Gemini Drive home, approximately 600 files of Explicit Images of Minors were located on defendant Martinez’ electronic devices.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that defendant Martinez was charged with one count of 3rd degree Endangering the Welfare of a Minor for the Possession of Explicit Images of Minors, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5biii.

After being processed at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, defendant Martinez was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
