Highway Crash in Essex County Leaves Driver Severely Injured

Early Friday morning, a serious crash on I-80 in Essex County resulted in severe injuries for one person.AdAccording to preliminary information, New Jersey State Police were called to the eastbound lanes near mile marker 49.8 in Fairfield shortly before 3 a.m. following reports of a crash.

Upon arrival, troopers found an overturned truck carrying gravel that had collided with another vehicle. The collision trapped an occupant in one of the vehicles. 

The rescue team quickly extricated the victim, who required immediate CPR at the scene before being rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

Subsequently, a specialized crash investigation team was dispatched to assist in determining the cause of the accident, which remains unclear at this stage.AdThe incident caused some disruption along the highway as emergency services worked to clear the scene and investigate the circumstances leading to the crash.

State Police are continuing their investigation and have called for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward to help piece together the events that led to this crash.
