A Hudson County high school senior is receiving national recognition for outstanding academic achievement.

According to information sent by the Hudson County Schools of Technology, High Tech High School senior Parth Khot, a 12th-grade Graphic Design major in the Media, Visual & Performing Arts Academy, has been named a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist.
Khot is one of just five students in Hudson County to earn the distinction this year.
Students selected as semifinalists are among the highest scorers nationwide on the PSAT/NMSQT and will now compete for Finalist status and potential National Merit Scholarships.
The honor follows an academically productive summer for Khot, who recently completed the Governor’s School of Engineering & Technology program at Rutgers University.
Superintendent Thomas Macagnano praised Khot’s academic achievement, dedication and hard work, saying the district is proud to have him representing High Tech High School and its Media, Visual & Performing Arts Academy on the national level.
Khot will now continue through the National Merit Scholarship Program’s selection process for an opportunity to advance to Finalist standing.
