Help Elizabeth Firefighters Make Charity Donation

Elizabeth

The Elizabeth Firemen’s Mutual Benevolent Association of New Jersey, Branch No. 9, Inc. (FMBA Local 9), announces its ‘A Dollar for a Like’ Facebook Campaign that will run for the month of October 2014.

This campaign encompasses Fire Prevention Week which will take place this year from October 5th through 11th. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) states that this year’s Fire Prevention Week theme will be “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month!”

“We want to do our part to get a message of fire safety out to our residents and those that follow us on Facebook,” said FMBA Local 9 President Michael Guarino Jr. He continued, “With the power and reach of social media we hope this campaign will help get our message out to more Elizabeth residents.”

For each new like during the month of October a dollar - up to $500 - will be donated to an Elizabeth charity. The chosen charities are Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless, Josephine’s Place, The Relief Bus, and Streetlight Mission.

Those that follow FMBA Local 9 on Facebook and their website will have an opportunity to vote for which charity will receive a donation.

“We want to interact with our followers and provide them with a reminder of the work that these charities do for our community in hopes that they consider to make donations of their own,” said Vice President David Bialas, “each charity will receive a portion of the donation in addition to our donations we make throughout the year.”
