Heavy Property Damage Reported After Gunmen Spray Irvington Township Neighborhood with Bullets

Irvington Township

Authorities are attempting to determine if a man soaked in blood who entered University Hospital suffering apparent gunshot wounds late last night was shot when armed gunmen drove down a 'quiet' residential street in Irvington firing shots at unknown targets.

Police officials have not returned a request for public information but about a dozen residents -leaving for work- on Florence Avenue were appalled at finding their vehicles with broken windows and major damage after bullets struck them during the overnight hours.

Officers arrived at the scene this morning and marked off about 20 shell casings then went door to door to locate and notify the owners of the affected vehicles.

One resident on Florence Avenue said she heard the shots fired outside her first-floor window but was too scared that a bullet would tear through the glass and injure her.

The suspects remain at large and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
