Newark is starting the workweek on a warm note, with temperatures at 74 degrees early Monday morning at Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Boulevard (Broad) and Market streets, and forecasters say the heat is here to stay for a while.According to the National Weather Service, after several days of cool, comfortable weather, the region is heading back into hazy, hot, and humid conditions as another heat wave begins.
While humidity levels will remain relatively low today, plenty of sunshine will quickly drive temperatures up.
Monday’s high is expected to reach near 91 degrees, with calm winds shifting south at 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 69 degrees.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions during peak afternoon heat as the wave builds over the coming days.
