Newark

Police in Newark's South Ward chased down two suspects on foot who were inside a vehicle that struck a pedestrian on a street in that portion of the city a short time ago.

Rapid responding police officers who were already on active patrol in the area of Avon Avenue and Bergen Street were notified that a car struck a pedestrian with the male driver and female passenger bailing from the vehicle and beginning to jump fences in an attempt to get away from the incident.

It took sprinting officers under a minute to catch up with the suspects then place them both under arrest without further incident.
