Gunshot Victim Enters University Hospital in Newark

Police in Newark are looking into the circumstances behind a hospital walk-in gunshot victim late Tuesday night. 

According to police, at approximately 10:15 p.m., officials at University Hospital notified police that a person entered the emergency room suffering a gunshot wound. 

The victim's injuries were not immediately reported as life-threatening.

According to authorities, police in Newark's South Ward are investigating one of the city's shots fired incidents that occurred around 8:20 p.m. in the South Ward. 

In this shooting, a ShotSpotter activated near 158 Fabyan Place, sending officers to the scene to investigate.

When they arrived, units found a vehicle struck by gunfire, but no victims were located after officers canvassed the scene.

Police have not confirmed the location of the shooting at this time.

Both incidents are under investigation by the Newark Police Department.
