Authorities in Essex County are investigating a shooting that killed one person in Newark’s North Ward Wednesday night.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 200 block of 4th Street around 9:40 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering a bullet wound in his back at that location.
Authorities said the unidentified victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office was notified and is investigating the fatal shooting.
No arrests have been reported.
