Guns, Ammo Seized in East Orange: Seven Arrested

Three separate investigations lead to the arrest of seven men and seizure of guns, drugs and hollow point bullets in East Orange.

According to police, officers responding to the area of Linden Avenue for a report of shots fired quickly turned into a pursuit after a Volkswagen was seen fleeing the area.

After the brief pursuit, the following four male occupants were arrested and charged with weapons offenses and conspiracy:

Triston Layne, 19, of East Orange

Jordan Atwell, 19, of East Orange

Anthony Mitchell, 20, of Newark

Quran Simpson, 19, of Newark

Later that day, detectives on Linden Avenue conducted a vehicle stop that led to the discovery of 11 ounces of the prescription drug promethazine, four hollow-point rounds and $2,136.

Nathaniel Fuller, 32, and Marquis Watkins, 19, both of East Orange, were charged with drug distribution offenses.

That night, following a tip about an armed man led to the arrest of Raekwan Taylor, 20, of East Orange.

He was found in possession of a loaded Rigarmi Brescia .25 semi-automatic handgun.

Taylor was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon.
