Authorities are investigating a bold armed robbery that unfolded near the border of Newark and East Orange on Tuesday evening.

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 7:40 p.m. near the intersection of Hedden Place and North 14th Street.

Newark Police were initially notified of an armed robbery in progress, but further investigation determined the actual crime took place just across the border in East Orange.

The victim told police that a group of suspects, one of whom was armed with a Glock-style handgun equipped with a laser sight, confronted them and demanded cash and personal belongings.

Fortunately, no physical injuries were reported.

The suspects fled the area and remain at large. County law enforcement officials believe the group may be connected to additional robberies in the region.
