Police in Newark are looking into an overnight armed carjacking in the city's North Ward.
According to a preliminary investigation, at approximately 10:20 p.m., police responded to reports of a carjacking in progress in the vicinity of 834 Mount Prospect Avenue.
Upon arrival, police were informed that an armed suspect exited a dark-colored Dodge Durango and took the victim's 2021 black Subaru Ascent.
The suspect fled, sped away from the scene, and is at large.
According to the investigation, the victim suffered a minor injury during the carjacking.
