Gunmen Occupying Stolen Springfield Car Fires Shots at Vehicle in Newark

Police officials reported no injuries in a shots-fired incident that caused property damage in the city's South Ward late Saturday night. 

According to police, at approximately 10:35 p.m, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 178 Mapes Avenue. 

When police arrived at the scene, they found evidence that a shooting occurred, but no victims were found after officers searched the neighborhood. 

Police say an occupant inside a vehicle scrambled to safety after shooters fired multiple times into their vehicle then fled the scene. 

Multiple bullets struck no one inside the car and police say the suspects reportedly fled the scene in a 2017 white 4-door Nissa Altima. 

The vehicle is believed to be stolen out of Springfield and has a reported NJ license plate number  "FJ9-JBC".
