Gunman Fires Nearly Two Dozen Rounds in Newark South 20th Street Shooting

Police in Newark are searching for a gunman who fired nearly two dozen rounds in a West Ward neighborhood Tuesday morning. 

At approximately 2:25 a.m., a ShotSpotter device activated and alerted police of shots fired near 659 South 20th Street. 

Officers arrived and found about 17 shell casings, but after cops canvassed the scene, no injuries were reported. 

Police say the suspect fled the scene and remains at large. 

The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
