Police in the Essex County city of East Orange are on the search for a suspect who fired multiple shots in a residential neighborhood in the city on Tuesday evening.
According to preliminary reports, residents in the 30's block of Eppirt Street dialed 911 after they heard nearly a dozen loud popping noises at around 8:30 p.m.
East Orange Police Units arrived at the scene and immediately secured then taped off the area when they found about nine shell casings near homes at that location.
Residents in the ordinarily quiet city block said that they have noticed an escalation of suspicious incidents in the neighborhood possibly related to criminal activity and narcotics sales that occur daily on nearby Central Avenue.
There were no severe injuries reported and the shooter remains at-large according to officials.
