Newark authorities are searching for an armed suspect who stole a car from a driver at gunpoint in the city's South Ward Saturday.
Police were notified of the early morning carjacking near the Sunoco Gas Station in the 200 block of Elizabeth Avenue around 4:49 a.m.
The assailant reportedly approached the victim with the gun pointed and took a grey 2022 Dodge Charger before fleeing th scene.
The vehicle was last seen entering I-78 with a yellow stripe on it.
Police believe that the vehicle is a rental and no physical injuries were reported during th incident.
The suspect remains at large.
